For all the glowing reviews I’ve given for all of my previously mentioned dogs, none of them are “lovers”!  Poopie is too energetic to snuggle, Snowball would rather kill something and Shadow would rather chase something.  None of our dogs could replace the loving, cuddling behavior we lost when our first dog Forrest died in 2006.

In the Fall of 2007, we were made aware of a couple who needed to find a home for their 3 yr old, 100+ lb Great Pyrenees named Toby.  We originally agreed to the adoption based on the idea that Fredo would appreciate some assistance outside helping to guard the animals.  Great Pyrenees were used as Livestock Guardian Dogs in the past, so perhaps he still had enough innate instinct in him to conform to this task.

Well, by the Spring of 2008 we had given up on this idea, and had given ourselves up completely to his wishes of being a full-time housedog and all-round cuddle-bear.  Finally, we found a big ole bear of a dog who will shower us with affection and kisses as Forrest used to.  (but without his aggression “issues”)  We are so fortunate to have found Toby, and his addition to the family has tremendously enriched our lives.

Toby, our Cuddle-Bear!
